Inks

Teflon inks are pigmented forms of Teflon suspended in water. They are commonly used for spiral striping of Teflon-insulated wire. The inorganic pigments used in these inks are extremely heat-resistant, withstanding temperatures in excess of 1000°F. When properly fused, they provide excellent adhesion and become an integral part of the insulation. They are formulated to wet Teflon substrates to produce a clean, sharp stripe with minimal color change between the supplied ink and the sintered result. Teflon inks are available in 10 colors and are generally formulated to meet MIL-STD-104 requirements.

STAR-CURE

STAR-CURE CAS-170 is a UV-curable ink application for fiber optic cables. It supports cable color coding for the identification of individual fibers and cures rapidly under UV exposure. The cured ink produces a smooth, high-gloss coating with good transparency and a bright appearance. It also provides excellent adhesion, good flexibility, lightfastness, and resistance to cracking for optical fiber cables. Its resistance to abrasion, scratching, and solvents makes STAR-CURE CAS-170 a strong option for demanding applications.

121-T-Series Ink

121-T-Series Ink is a water-based ink designed for striping and printing on substrates such as Tefzel, Kynar, Nylon, PVC, PE, and related materials. Its formulation exceeds all military abrasion and durability requirements while offering excellent oil resistance and color retention. These inks are available in 10 stock color options. Custom colors can also be formulated to meet specific application requirements.

Saturants

Braid saturant products are water-based coatings that impart both color and encapsulation to provide anti-fray properties. Each braid saturant is designed to successfully work on fiberglass, cotton, nylon, and rayon braids. Braid saturants are available in 10 colors, including white for cleaning browned-out glass. They offer a practical solution where braid appearance, handling, and durability are important.

Lacquers

RFU Silicone Lacquer is a newly developed, water-reducible silicone coating with a service temperature range in excess of 538°C/1000°F. It serves as a direct replacement for organic solvent high-temperature silicone resins and varnishes. This environmentally and ecologically friendly product is available in different colors and can be easily cleaned up with tap water.

Release Agents

STAR 189-C is a direct plug-in for VYDAX/KRYTOX* with a greatly reduced cost. This water-dispersed fluorotelomer is used either on the conductor for strip force control or as a release agent between thermoplastic systems, such as PVC over PVC and PE over PE. It is guaranteed not to blister between extrusion layers. The 189-C Series is available in three stock strengths and can be formulated to any required strength. Common areas of use include coatings for paint and stripe durability, poly-mold removal, and blocking abatement on twists. Unlike VYDAX/KRYTOX* solvent grades, there are no listed exposure limits for the 189-C Series, supporting greater safety use in the workplace. * DuPont Trademark

Mica Substitute Release Coating

Mica Substitute Release Coating is a film-forming, water-reducible release coating for thermoplastic surfaces that block. It was developed to replace talc, Micas, and papers traditionally used to prevent sticking. Because powders are OSHA-classified as dust nuisances both on the wire and during application, our Mica Substitute Release Coating is a liquid elastomeric water coating alternative. Its current uses include PVC over PVC, twisted bunches, uncured rubber prior to curing, and other vulnerable insulations.

Cleaners and Solvents

STAR-SOLVE CAS-10A is a direct replacement for MEK and other hazardous cleaning solvents. While it has a mild odor and a light blue color, it contains no ingredients that are SARA or HAP listed. The product is also nonflammable, water-soluble, and non-halogenated. That is why it is recommended for use on all insulation to remove inks, powders, oils, and soaps.
